The Ultimate Free Map Poster Generator
MAPIC was born out of a desire to make beautiful, professional-grade map posters accessible to everyone. We noticed that many platforms charge premium prices for custom map exports, restricting high-resolution downloads behind paywalls. MAPIC provides a completely free alternative to tools like Terraink, empowering designers, urban planners, and map enthusiasts to create stunning artwork without restrictions.
How It Works
At its core, MAPIC utilizes powerful WebGL rendering technology combined with data from OpenStreetMap (OSM). This allows you to fly to any city in the world and dynamically style individual geographic layers. Whether you want to highlight complex street networks, visualize building footprints, trace winding rivers, or emphasize rail lines, MAPIC gives you granular control.
Customizable Features
- Global Coverage: Using our integrated search, you can navigate to any location globally. From the grid-like streets of New York City to the historic winding roads of Rome, all data is loaded in real-time.
- Theme Customization: We offer a variety of hand-crafted color palettes ranging from deep minimalist dark modes to warm vintage tones. You can select a preset or dive deep into customizing every single layer color to match your interior design or brand aesthetics.
- Layouts and Text: Personalize your poster by adding custom titles, subtitles, and coordinate displays. You can adjust typography scale and positioning to create a balanced, print-ready composition.
- High-Resolution Export: Once you are satisfied with your design, you can export your map in multiple formats including PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG, and PDF. We support high DPI rendering, meaning your exported file is perfectly suited for large-format physical printing.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: democratize geospatial design. Maps are not just navigational tools; they are pieces of art that tell stories about our cities, our memories, and our history. By providing a free, client-side rendering tool, we ensure that anyone with a web browser can participate in creating geographic art.
Technology Stack
MAPIC is built using modern web technologies to ensure lightning-fast performance and a seamless user experience. We leverage SvelteKit for our reactive frontend architecture, MapLibre GL JS for hardware-accelerated vector tile rendering, and TailwindCSS for our sleek, responsive user interface.
Support the Project
While MAPIC is completely free to use, running global search APIs and maintaining the infrastructure takes time and resources. If you find value in our tool and have used it to create something beautiful, consider supporting the project. Your contributions help keep MAPIC free for everyone and allow us to continue developing new features and themes.
